FAQs about booking a Blue Mountains guided tour
Should I book it in advance?
Yes, because the Blue Mountains are one of the most popular day trips from Sydney – tours tend to book out quickly (especially between December and March). This is why we STRONGLY recommend booking your cruise as soon as you know the date you plan to visit. That way, you can avoid disappointment and pick the cruise that’s right for you.
Should I book a private tour or a group tour?
I guess the main question you want to ask yourself before booking a Blue Mountains tour – is whether you want to share the experience with others or want a private tour for just you and your partner/ family/ friends. Of course, there are pros and cons to both.
On a private tour, you’ll have the benefit of a more personalized experience, and you can likely change the course of the day – request stops, etc. as the guide is solely catering to you.
If you choose a group tour – the price will be significantly lower, and you’ll get the chance to meet other travelers. However, because it’s a group tour, you will be sticking to a strict schedule – not much room for leeway.
What to wear in the Blue Mountains:
Dress in layers to accommodate the lower and often temperatures – as a general rule of thumb, it’s typically around 5 – 10 Celsius cooler here than in Sydney. Opt for a moisture-wicking base layer, followed by a warm fleece or sweater, and a waterproof jacket to combat rain or wind. Wear comfortable, sturdy hiking boots with good grip for the rugged terrain.
