Who wants to go on a summer holiday? Most families do, although there’s nothing wrong with taking a break at other times of the year as well. When you’ve got kids, planning a holiday is sometimes more stressful and expensive than you might hope.
After all, you’ve got to time your holidays for when your children aren’t at school, and you aren’t working. You also need to consider the extra expense of only going away at peak times of the year (after all, you’re not the only family going on holiday) and of paying for your children.
To tie it all together, you ideally want to plan a holiday that everyone will enjoy, kids and adults alike.
Tips for planning your next family adventure in the UK
It can be cheaper and equally as rewarding to stay in the UK for your next vacation; check out my tips below to ensure you have an awesome staycation in the UK!
Why Stay Local
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to jet off on a destination holiday and spend some time soaking in the sun, especially if the English weather isn’t playing ball. But, even if it’s raining all summer, you can still enjoy some fantastic holidays without leaving this little island.
The best thing about UK holidays is that you can save money and enjoy a cheaper holiday, without sacrificing on quality. You cut out all of the extra expenses of travelling to another country, such as plane tickets, insurance, and exchange rates.
It’s also more convenient and less stressful to stay in the UK. There is a lot to see, but all within a reasonable distance. You can drive to plenty of beautiful and interesting places within a few hours of your home. If you have small children who don’t travel well, this is a much more convenient option.
It’s also very easy to find somewhere to stay in the UK. You can book a weekend trip or a holiday without planning too far in advance, especially if you don’t have to venture onto a train or across any borders.
Finding Adventure
The UK has a long and rich history, as well as a great variety of things to do. If you know your kids, you know what kind of things interest them. So, if they are interested in history and castles and fairy tales, you can almost certainly find a castle near where you’re staying in the UK. The country is practically crawling with historical sites.
You can also enjoy a hiking or cycling trip in the countryside, allowing you to enjoy the view and get some exercise on your holiday. If you’re interested in something different that still gets your children involved in nature, the Canterbury river tour is a fantastic option.
Look into cities as well as rural areas
But not everyone is interested in nature. In this case, take some time to explore the culture in different cities throughout the UK and find some other activities for your children. There is always something to do if you know where to look, the key is doing some research.
Even if you aren’t on holiday far from home, you can still have a fantastic time, whether you are looking for adventure or just want to relax.
