One of my favorite places to visit in New York is Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment; I’m a massive fan of Sex and the City and just adore the whole look of her apartment, from the warm, inviting interior to the photogenic brownstone exterior. And those steps! Carrie’s apartment is located at 66 Perry Street in the West Village.
In the TV series, Carrie is supposed to live in Park and Madison, but the real-life apartment is actually located in West Village. Interestingly, the interior scenes were not filmed at this location; instead, they were shot in Silver Cup Studios in Queens.
Visiting Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment was a must for me during my 3 days in NYC – having watched Sex and the City countless times, it was very nostalgic for me to see Carrie’s apartment in-person. Of course, I took lots of photos. But, guess what – my phone was robbed (with all the photos) not long after my visit to New York.

Where is Carrie Bradshaw’s Apartment Located?
Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment is located at 66 Perry Street in the West Village of New York City.
In fact, for the first two series, the exterior scenes of Carrie’s apartment were shot next door at 64 Perry Street, but filming moved to 66 Perry Street for the third season because the brownstone staircase here was considered more glamorous.
As you can imagine, 66 Perry Street has become a major tourist destination for fans of the TV show – some days there can be hundreds of tourists queuing to snap photos on the famed steps.
From this location, you can stand on the very steps that stylish Sarah Jessica Parker swished up and down in her extravagant outfits.

Can You Visit Carrie Bradshaw’s Apartment?
Unfortunately, you cannot view the inside of the apartment as it’s privately owned. A man named Ray Jefferson was the owner of this rent-controlled studio apartment for 46 years until his passing in 2019. It’s not known who rents the studio apartment today.
The building at 66 Perry Street consists of 3 rental units and is estimated to be worth well over $10 million USD. And the building next door at 64 Perry Street was sold in 2012 for an impressive $9.85 million USD.
I will add to please be mindful when taking photos outside the building as people do live inside. Lucky them!
My tour recommendation:
You can book a Sex and the City Hotspots Bus Tour that takes you to some of the most iconic filming locations from the TV series. Places like Steve and Aidan’s bar, Carrie’s apartment, the famous Magnolia Bakery, and, a bar where the ladies sipped cosmopolitans. The tour includes transportation by coach, a local guide and is 3.5 hours long. It costs from $66 USD per person. I’ve done this exact tour and LOVED it!
